Monarch Butterfly flutters from flower to flower in the forest, always searching for the sweetest nectar. Soon, she will have to migrate along the path of her elders for the winter.

She sips quickly, knowing the rapid apporach of winter is just around the bend.

Butterfly's wings are made with many small brass gears and adorned with spring covers and brass wheels. These wings are joined with sturdier gears in the back for structural support. Butterfly's body is a watch stem and the head is an old watch jewel (tiny ruby) which is soldered to the stem. All pieces began life as individual watch parts, taken from disused mechanical watches, cleaned, and hand placed using lead free silver bearing solder. No two pieces are ever exactly the same at A Mechanical Mind, and we do not believe in hot glue or resin as fixatives.

Butterfly is 34mm wide by 26mm tall and comes on a 16" antiqued silver plated cable chain with links measuring 1.2mm. The chain may be made longer or shorter depending on your needs, so let us know in the comments section during checkout if you are in need of a different size.
