Mechanical Scorpion No 4 III by AMechanicalMind Mechanical Scorpion No 4 III by AMechanicalMind
buy: [link]

A Clockwork Scorpion sculpture made completely out of recycled watch parts.

The body is made from antique watch faces (dials) that have been cut, shaped, sanded and soldered together into body segments.

The tail is also made with watch dials that have been soldered onto a watch spring, then soldered from the back. Watch stems and stem knobs decorate as well as strengthen the tail. The stinger is a watch winding stem.

The pincers and pincer arms are from curved, cut, sanded, and soldered watch faces and strap springs.

The legs are made of strap springs, along with small watch stems for the feet.

There is no gluew or resin to be found in the piece...everything is soldered into place with metal. This is a one of a kind work of art, never to be exactly reproduced.

Dimensions: 38mm wide by 60mm front to back 53mm tall He comes with a 3" by 4" glass dome with walnut base for display. He is extremely fragile and should be handled sparingly and very gently, and is most definitely not a toy.

oh wow it's just so amazing. such talent is to be appreciated in great amounts! I can imagine this being sold at an auction or something at a reasonably high price for it's time consumption in making but also it's equal beauty :D

Thank you very much! Not too long...a little under a year for sculptures. Got a bit tired of making jewelry for a while.

First, it's not nearly as strong as solder. Second, everyone can glue things together.

I think it is all a matter of where you've been raised. I was raised in the south and can't stand the heat. Seems you're the opposite!
