Also I can see this in a steampunk laboratory following orders and giving more light when the mad scientist needs it, and shooing away when he doesn't need them.

Its cool, and I would put it on my shelf.

I would go to bed and be like....

"...Its looking at me. Is it moving? ....."

And just be up all night, wondering if I will make it through the terror.

I mean, it is really cool, but I couldn't have it. I'd get to creeped out.

The mechanical spider silently hums with electricity and artificial life.
through it's sneaky ways and glowing eyes does the arachnid slowly entice
the curiosity of the beholder, taking in the slender and scuttling legs, eight in all
through the glowing bulb as it's abdomen does the spider slowly call.
It weaves a web of iron wire, delicately shining in the LED light
and moves quickly across the web to take unlucky bugs and grab a bite.
Although a creature of hard-worked metal, as well being a malicious predatorial one,
it gracefully moves to it's own sad little tune, glowing with a warmer light than the sun.
Thus the artificial arachnid, so delicately crafted is displayed
silently gazing, always waiting, and seemingly in an ever so meaningful charade.

Very cool. The materials you used to build the legs make them look a bit "hairy", like actual spider legs.
